Cops Episodes Big Guy Runs From Cops Martial Arts
One Of The Few Great 1990's Action Serial
The 1990's were quite disappointing for fans of action shows. Martial Constabulary was ane of the few practiced shows.
Sammo Hung played Sammo Police force in this evidence. He was bright. I am not a big fan of Martial Arts shows but this was entertaining. The stunts and the fight scenes were merely amazing. Sammo was very agile for his size and at that place was ever fun in watching him beat the bad guys; he always used their ain weapons against them. No bad guy could crush Sammo-even if they had a gun or a knife. Sammo just kicked their butts.
Add together to this the chemical science between all the characters and the great villains throughout the series and you have one really great show. Check it out.

Worth watching for Sammo'southward martial arts; good comedy every bit well as drama.
"Martial Law" is your standard cop prove in one way - the actual "cop stuff" is the usual nonsense you can see anywhere on Television, the "aforementioned old aforementioned former" which makes real cops wince. What makes this bear witness worth watching is the incredible martial arts prowess of the bandage - peculiarly Sammo Hung. Just similar Jackie Chan and Chow Yun-Fat, Sammo trained at the Peking Opera Schoolhouse, which makes for a unique - and oft funny - fashion of martial arts. The entire bandage works well together, and they can all actually *act* - unlike a sure 'Texas Ranger' who comes on after this show. Lots of comedy in this show - they don't (ordinarily) get for the inexpensive "Chinaman in America" jokes, and they really seem to retrieve what they've done from one show to the adjacent. All of the martial arts used on the set are real - Sammo, apparently, is an skillful, and Louis Mandylor ("Louis") is trained in "muy thai" (Thai kickboxing), while Tammy Lauren ("Dana") is a black belt in Karate [I haven't heard a real reason for her divergence], and Kellu Hu ("Grace / Pei Pei") is a chocolate-brown chugalug in Karate. Tom Wright ("Lt. Winship") is a former stuntman, and does his own stunts in the show also. And, merely as with Jackie Chan's movies, at the finish of every episode they have a cursory "outtakes" section, showing some of the goofs that occured during the filming of the episode.
Good acting, decent plots, and enough of kick-butt activeness, equally well as many comedic moments (Sammo playing "Smoke On The Water" on the guitar...) make this a testify to watch.

Martial Arts
Sammo Hung'due south acting may be a bit stilted, only you tin can't say the same for his awesome martial arts skills. It's a shame Martial Law was cancelled at the millenium. Information technology should have gone on for 2 or three more seasons.

Today's lesson: How to ruin a TV show
When "Martial Law" premiered, I was hooked. Sure, it wasn't bang-up art or fabulous writing on display, but the show was goofy fun. But then bit by bit, the producers tinkered with the evidence, and with each adjustment, the show became worse.
The first misstep happened shortly subsequently the theatrical movie "Blitz 60 minutes" became a hitting. The producers must accept thought "Hey! What this show needs is an obnoxious, hip, and streetwise partner for Sammo Hung!" Presently afterward, Arsenio Hall became a bandage member, and his character was EXTREMELY annoying.
The next misstep was when the 2d season of the bear witness premiered. First, the producers had fired several bandage members, despite these fired actors and their characters existence a very likable bunch. They also ignored or chop-chop wrote out the plot threads that had been going forth in the previous flavor.
Subsequently some time, the producers tinkered with the evidence once again. Of a sudden Kelly Hu's character had a COMPLETELY dissimilar groundwork, and the show suddenly had the characters fighting with a cloak-and-dagger organization that threatened the city each week. This organization was treated with the same goofiness of the evil secret system in the "Inspector Gadget" animated serial.
Fortunately, the show was cancelled subsequently the second flavour had played out. (And around this fourth dimension, to Arsenio Hall's credit, he admitted that the show was terrible.) Since this series just ran two seasons, information technology is highly unlikely that the show volition be seen in syndication, at to the lowest degree in North America. Just also. If yous Do get the chance to meet the show, watch it until Arsenio Hall appears. Then stop watching!

One word: Awesome!
When I saw Martial Police for the get-go fourth dimension when it aired, I was immediately hooked! And I made it my Sabbatum night ritual! Sammo, Terrel, Grace, and Amy are all very provocative, coloful, and cool characters in their own fashion. I miss Louis, though. I'm too a big fan of Jackie Chan'south movies, too. And the director of this show is the same who did those Jackie Chan movies! In this show, you not merely have crimes beingness solved, y'all have comedy, cool karate moves, and nearly of all a fun show to sentry!
Even Arsenio Hall is learning some of those slick karate moves, himself, and I beloved his comedic antics! Sammo is awesome, Grace (Kelly Hu) would make a proficient role model for immature girls who lookout man this, & she has cool moves like Sammo, and Amy too, and she's cool as the boss!
Fifty-fifty though nosotros're still left hanging from last season'southward cliffhanger, this bear witness is getting better in every episode they make. I hope CBS renews it for a tertiary season! Either style, it's still an awesome and spectacular prove! If y'all oasis't seen it yet, feel free to see this 1!

"Not slow, but fat"
I've been watching this show from the outset, and I call back I'll go on to do so. The activeness is good, and the story is, as far as I tin can see, devoid of stupid piffling flaws. (Then once more, I oasis't been looking for them). Nevertheless, the first episode of the 2nd (?) flavor (the one with the new chief and Jerry Doyle as McQueen) had a small flaw that I noticed without running it on slow motion: A pair of handcuffs breaking, and so existence whole again in the next cut. I promise there's non a lot of these, as I will exist looking forwards to the adjacent episode.
The best things nearly it, in my opinion, are Sammo's wit and a great pace.

this show is awesome
I tin't say enough adept things almost this testify. As a 18-year old activity loving teenager, I think this is the best action show on television. But enough well-nigh me, let's talk most the bear witness. The show centers on Sammo Law, played past Sammo Hung, as a Chinese cop who trades places with a cop from L.A. Sammo and his pupil, Grace/Pei-Pei, brainstorm to work as detectives on the L.A.P.D., under the control of Lt. Windship (Tom Wright). Arsenio Hall was thrown into the mix, just for comic relief, as Tyrell Parker. And Louis Mandylor rounds out the grouping as detective Louis Malone. The characters all work great together. The best part of the show, however, is Sammo's martial arts moves. Sammo is a big guy, merely he yet manages to kick butt like information technology's nobody's business organization. Martial Law is way superior to Walker, Texas Ranger, Nash Bridges, and Sons of Thunder all put together. More people should picket this show so information technology won't canceled or anything like that.

Gives Sammo Chance to Get Out of Jackie Chan's Shadow
Sammo Hung is finally on the path to stardom after playing second dabble to Jackie Chan for many years. I observe information technology interesting that Sammo is the beginning Asian player to lead a TV show some years afterwards Bruce Lee was rejected for the lead role in Kung Fu. I believe that this show will assistance many people who unaware of who Sammo is to check out some of his tiptop films. Kelly Hu does a terrific task equally Grace. The show is entertaining and 1 of the best shows on television today. Not as expert every bit Kojak, but then once more in that location are not many police force shows that were or are every bit excellent nor starring someone every bit cool every bit Telly Savalas. The best episodes were the ane guest starring Mako. The but thing I like to see are invitee appearences from some famous people.

Thoroughly enjoyable entertainment !
I tuned in to 'Martial law' a few days ago on United kingdom satellite Tv set. Well, I've never seen a 'police' series quite like it - it makes Hawaii 5-0 expect positively archaic by comparison, Sammo,Grace and Company combine to offer a beautifully choreographed and seemingly non-stop sequence of action packed episodes (aided by some dazzling stunts and clever camerawork ) One can forgive the fact that the rest of the city police force appear to be surplus to requirements and that the plots are sparkling gems of improbability - the whole programme is propelled forward by an irresistible combination of incandescent martial arts skills, transcendental displays of the powers of deduction, coupled with what appears to be an undercurrent of practiced humour which is never far from the surface. This is a programme which is a fine case of the blazon of professionalism which maintains credibility only doesn't take itself too seriously.A first form instance of one-act/activeness which is a sheer joy to watch, and mercifully gratis from cliches and stereotypes.Strongly recommended to those who desire to enjoy themselves !

Kelly Hu and Sammo Hung
This evidence was given a second shot in Season two and seriously blew it. For some reason, they brought in Arsenio Hall to endeavour and capitalize on the fame of Rush Hr and it killed the show. Instead of making sexy Kelly Hu Sammo'south partner, they pushed her off to the side and that made the evidence half as good as it could take been.
Every bit the novelty of Sammo Hung wore off, at that place was cypher in the testify to make upwards for it. Arsenio Hall'southward antics were more annoying than funny. No further depth was given to Kelly Hu'due south character. Luckily the bear witness had just enough left to exist worthy of syndication. With the combination of Sammo Hung, Kelly Hu, and a magical second flavour theme by Joel Goldsmith, the son of the swell Jerry Goldsmith, the show even so has just enough watchability to pull you in and concord yous.
Its still fun to watch Sammo Hung'due south fighting skills. As a child he trained with Jackie Chan in a Peking Opera School, where strict training and harsh discipline were the norm. Despite his size, its easy to encounter that Sammo Hung is clearly one of the best maritial artists in the world.

This show is great!
I started watching this show a while back thinking it would be something decent to watch on a Saturday, thats kinda similar Nash Bridges. After a few episodes, I liked this bear witness more than Nash Bridges and I've liked it e'er since. Sammo Hung is really skilful at martial arts and reminds me a lot of the Jackie Chan movies. Areseno Hall adds his fighting mode and comedy to the show. Overall the testify is actually good and you should all watch it!

Great evidence...
I loved this testify. This was just mindless entertainment for me. It made me almost forgot the problems of the 24-hour interval or week.
I read some comments saying that Sammo Hung fighting reminded him of Jackie Chan'southward fighting craziness. I promise and so - since they both grew upward together the China. Sammo, Jackie and another martial arts player Yeun Biao(sp?) grew up together and made movies (sometimes, acting together). They were called, in Hong Kong, "The Three Brothers". Their fighting styles were somewhat similar. Here is some small tidbits of info on the show: - In the pilot episode, Sammo had to practise his own stunts. From what I read in the papers at the time, his personal stuntman had problems with his paperwork and then he couldn't be in that location to double for Sammo.
- In one episode, I plant out subsequently, Jackie Chan made a small advent equally a drunk. It was done equally a favor from one brother to another. Now, I have to see which episode and what point of the episode.

And you thought they didn't make them similar they used to...
"Martial Constabulary" was a throwback to the days of cop shows that put action above studies of the tortured hero'due south homelife, all dust and gristle. Twenty years ago "NYPD Blueish" would have been cancelled later on 2 years and this one would take run and run, rather than the other way around. Merely hey, Burger King tin can be as satisfying as a seventeen-grade banquet.
Devoted credit watchers might accept seen all the signs of a series in problem (all those producer and bandage changes in the first season - although for the most part the cast changes worked; Terrell is far less irritating than Dana), and the second series hasn't worked too as the offset, simply it'south still entertaining, and even has some surprisingly effective moments of drama (such as Grace'due south reason for not wanting to confront the villains in "Friendly Skies," as well Kelly Hu's best work so far).
Equally far as silly cop shows go, this is far better than almost. (And unlike most series that change themes, Joel Goldsmith's propulsive music is equally skillful as (while entirely different to) Mike Post's commencement-season ane.)

Sammo Hung and Arsenio Hall are like two all-time comic partners in crime-fighting. I like Sammo's moves. Arsenio needs to be fifty-fifty more talented in martial arts. Whenever Sammo and Arsenio are together, information technology becomes very thrilling. I've never seen a cop Goggle box show like this one, the one who never ever gives up.
Some other affair! I as well like that cute one who is in that bear witness, she'south Grace (Kelly Hu). I've besides seen her talented moves as well.

First serial bang-up, 2d series painful
I loved this show, espically the first serial - it was a great way of watching a "Jackie Chan / Sammo Hung" -esque movie without paying the hefty price tag for the cinema ticket / video rental.
The show had lots of action in it. Sure it didn't have as much activity as say the big budget action movies, but it tried hard and information technology was a real hoot...
The plot lines were sometimes done very well - one time in that location was a plot about a drugs baron wanting to see his son - and they were dealt with quite well...although other times they were very painful...nearly of the time it had Sammo tracking down his arch-nemesis from China.
But unfortuently it presently went downhill, the introduction of Arsenio "Coming to America" Hall didn't help the show, however sexy Kelly Hu defintley did...the action was however good - simply it sometimes went to the extremes of blowing things upward for no reason with the storylines left the casaulty...
With all TV shows similar this you have the obligitary ninja epsiode, the obligitary duel to death with arch-nemesis episode (to exist honest, once the curvation-nemesis was gone, the show ran out of steam), and other episodes which may have you thinking "am I watching Batman (1966) or a absurd 1998 Tv set bear witness?"
Anyway, there were brief returns to normality such as Sammo looking for his son - merely it came to zilch, as half way through the 2d series, the plug was pulled...its a shame we never got good potent plots, and its a shame that in the plots Sammo never seemed to get hurt in fights or even looked like he was going to lose.
I judge all that doesn't matter, its a very entertaining prove, and I guess that's all that counts.

Fun show canceled by empty suits
Warning: Spoilers
Empty suits: the invisible destroyers of Goggle box shows
Season i ended with a cliffhanger that was completely ignored in flavor 2's opener. This is the significant of the discussion frustration. Sammo was excellent. Arsenio's addition was criticized only I thought he added to the show. (The dynamic is nothing like Chan and Tucker in Rush Hour.) Season ii got rid of Sammo's hottie potential honey interest Julia Campbell. They got rid of Lieutenant Winship and Detective Malone. Sammo was upset over season 2's scripts and that coupled with high production costs led the suits to shut the show. This is where a syndicate would come in and take over merely it didn't happen in this example.

This bear witness is really proficient!!
This show is a new idea that definitely worked! However, I take read a review that says that this evidence is "better than that lame Texas Ranger show." I say this is a total copy of "Walker, Texas Ranger." It has the aforementioned plot and everything. Plus, I think it is a little more childish than "Walker." But fifty-fifty still, this is a really, really good evidence that all martial arts and/or offense fighting fans should definitely watch.

Fantastic comedy by a brilliant and wonderful main
Martial Law beginning entered my television set in 1998, it completely surpassed my expectations.
Being a huge Sammo Hung fan already I thought, this cannot exist as good as some of his films, I was right, information technology was a hell of alot better than some of his films.
I have now watched every single episode, and am now watching the re-runs (second time round), and nevertheless dearest it as much now as I did when it showtime came onto my telly.
For Sammo Hung fans, this is a series not to be missed. For Martial Arts fans, this is a fantastic array of stunts, humour, tricks, tips and kick-ass.
This series truly is a wonderful masterpiece, past a wonderful, talented, brilliant and artistic person, Mr Sammo Hung.
I am but at present hoping there will exist a new series and a video/DVD release of the onetime series, it would be a shame if there were not.

When (Sammo Hung) Killed (Sammo Law) !
At the first episode (Shanghai Limited), I said to myself: "No mode! They're making a big mistake and they will cancel information technology presently for sure!" But unexpectedly I discovered how proficient it was. And despite some things, not a lot of things, this was always fresh and amusing testify which had some potentials nonetheless in depression product, and customary direction. Merely if you enquire me what has brought this one to an cease? My answer will be innately Mr. Sammo Hung Kam-Bo!
At flavor ane, there was that drift to assure China'southward bang-up culture: the deep method of fighting confronting the muddled tearing American methods, the wisdom quotes from their legacy, the old traditional habits, the spiritual religion, and the nice principal musical theme past national Chinese instruments. Really the grapheme of inspector (Sammo Law), every bit the finest policeman in Asia, was so idealistic as a working human being, or as a human existence, and so his sapience was in that location all the time to guide his new American colleagues for the best, in the same time that all of them were trying hard to keep up with his unique way of fighting. He was a funny guy who could play the rock out of a guitar, hence his turning into a member of the American gild was interesting with all the continual sarcasm almost the western materialism (Why everything must be big in America?! / Well, America is a big country, so we want everything as big as her!). All of that was really one of the biggest apologies in the history of the American TV for the manner that was used to show any Asian character during the by half century (evil, ignoble, craven, stupid.. yous name it!) still that was done by some Asian coin, and talents. Because Hollywood knows one very of import policy: The Greenish! Then the Asian production companies entered there to confirm lately its growing influence.
But unfortunately, at the second season, this gentle benign patriotism almost died down, and that kind of drift had been weakened, with no more talking virtually China's civilization, no more showing for traditional habits, and no more musical theme with national instruments. They wanted this to be and then American or less Chinese. Aye, that was lilliputian disappointing, but what about the residue of the show?
The most beautiful affair in (Martial Police force) was the writing. Truly I do believe that this testify wouldn't make information technology through 2 years without those brilliant team of writers, not even with the greatest Kung Fu combats ever. They persevered in finding new thrilling idea for every episode. Although at the stop of flavour two, when we followed the continuous battle between (Sammo) and the evil organization of (Scorpio), it was kind of naive sometimes, however it wasn't bad at all, only less powerful. Putting in mind that it was also better than a lot of conflicts at other shows. And as for the choreography of the fights, information technology was very creative, never repeated, and as well spirited with a new place, trick, and jest every time. Though you'll witness with that the real painful reasons which terminated this show!
As one big reason: the bad acting. Yeah, this show is not about acting, also the very writers tried and so much non to put anyone of the characters in any hard moment, but the terminal consequence was shut to atrocious, especially (Gretchen Egolf)'s poor performance, with her right eyebrow always Upwardly! and to a higher place all, of course, the star of the prove (Sammo Hung) himself! This man nearly destroyed his ain success by his insistence to be inanimate as an player, with his lifeless performance, and the eternal mineral face of him which tin can make yous feel sometimes that he is a fat robot with the nigh pathetic English in the globe. Although he endeavored to compensate that by bringing (Arsenio Hall) to practise what (Chris Tucker) did for (Jackie Chan) in movies, nevertheless it was then difficult to watch the same (Sammo)'south out-of-mode hair cut, the same frozen features (while he can express mirth indeed, but only in the bloopers sequences!) as well as the same constant way of diction whatever the feelings were (fifty-fifty Arnie can be wonderfully angry). (Sammo) didn't endeavor to get better fifty-fifty with the complexity of his role as a wounded father at the end of season ii, and to tell you the truth: THAT WAS BORRRRRRRING! Not to mention the abundance of using a sparse double of him during the fights, and he was that evident also, so with that hits the only thing which he is good at.. it became unbearable!
Over and in a higher place, the presence of dozens of gimmicky movies with martial arts which are more rich and attractive, plus many shows of cops, American cops, too. Therefore, despite the skilful quality, and the fact that this series was groovy as average, the American viewers simply became fed up quickly with this invariable heart-anile not-handsome obese hero; so they accustomed themselves to alter the channel to annihilation else, like they've taken objection on the most important crime that this cute show didn't bring up at all: the offense of killing inspector (Sammo Police force) past the hands of the thespian (Sammo Hung)!
